Hi Donna, When are you expressing? Are you expressing after a feed or in between feeds? They recommend that you express AFTER you've finished bubs as this is the fatty part of the milk, not the foremilk, which is very watery. The reason for not expressing inbetween feeds as then bubs wont get enough at the next feed if you are emptying your boobs in between them. When i was expressing the lactation consultant said it is good to get between 60-80mLs from both breasts. Anymore than this is fantastic. It is hard to gauge how much bubs will need - if only our boobs had measuring instruments on them! LOL Are you going to express whilst you are away with hubby during the day? Expressing will increase your supply and you may discover your boobs about to pop in a few days from the extra stimulation.
